Plagiarism Policy

Revista Latinoamericana de Química upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and strictly prohibits plagiarism in any form. Authors submitting manuscripts to the journal are expected to adhere to ethical research and writing practices.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying or reproducing another author's work (text, figures, data, or ideas) without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing substantial portions of another work without attribution.
  • Self-plagiarism (duplicate publication of an author's own work without proper acknowledgment).
  • Fabrication or manipulation of data and research findings.

Plagiarism Detection

  • All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software.
  • Manuscripts found with significant plagiarism (above 15% similarity, excluding references and commonly used phrases) will be returned to authors for revision or rejected outright.

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage:

  • Before Publication: The manuscript will be rejected immediately.
  • After Publication: The article may be retracted, and a notice of misconduct will be issued.
  • Repeated Offenses: The author(s) may be blacklisted from submitting future work to the journal.

Author Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all sources are appropriately cited.
  • Obtain permissions for using third-party copyrighted materials.
  • Submit only original and unpublished work.
