Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

Revista Latinoamericana de Química is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and preventing any form of malpractice. Our policies align with the ethical guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure integrity and transparency in scholarly publishing.

Duties of Authors

  • Authors must ensure their submissions are original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
  • Proper acknowledgment of sources and references must be provided.
  • Plagiarism, data fabrication, and falsification are strictly prohibited.
  • Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Any errors discovered after publication must be promptly reported to the journal for correction or retraction.

Duties of Editors

  • Editors are responsible for making fair and unbiased publication decisions based on the manuscript’s academic merit.
  • Confidentiality of submitted manuscripts must be maintained.
  • Editors must take appropriate action in response to ethical complaints and suspected misconduct.
  • Editors must not use unpublished materials from submitted manuscripts for their research.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, constructively, and in a timely manner.
  • Confidentiality of the review process must be maintained.
  • Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves if necessary.
  • Any suspicion of plagiarism, data manipulation, or unethical behavior must be reported to the editor.

Publication Malpractice Prevention

  • The journal employs plagiarism detection tools to screen submissions.
  • Any allegations of research misconduct are thoroughly investigated, and appropriate action is taken.
  • In cases of confirmed malpractice, the journal may issue corrections, retractions, or bans on future submissions.

Ethical Oversight

  • Research involving human or animal subjects must comply with ethical guidelines and be approved by relevant institutional review boards.
  • Authors must provide evidence of ethical approval upon request.
